How to Install

Install Trace from the ZIP file in a few simple steps.

Chrome / Edge

  1. Download the ZIP

    Download trace-extension.zip from the homepage.

  2. Extract the ZIP

    Extract the ZIP file to a folder on your computer (e.g., trace-extension/).

  3. Open Extensions Page

    Open Chrome or Edge and navigate to chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions).

  4. Enable Developer Mode

    Toggle "Developer mode" on in the top-right corner of the extensions page.

  5. Load Unpacked

    Click "Load unpacked" and select the extracted trace-extension folder.

  6. Done!

    The Trace extension is now installed. Click the extension icon or press Alt+T to start drawing.

Troubleshooting

Extension disappears after browser restart?

Make sure to keep the extracted folder in a permanent location (like Documents). Don't delete it after installation.

"Load unpacked" is greyed out?

Ensure Developer mode is enabled. The toggle should be blue/on in the top-right corner.

How do I update the extension?

Download the new ZIP, extract it, then go to chrome://extensions, find Trace, and click the refresh/reload icon.
